It is a fact that if you want to build your football program to the next level, having talent from the Sunshine State is a must.
Look across the country – and you will see that where there is success, you will find that the roster includes football talent from the state of Florida.
As Florida International University and head coach Mike MacIntyre build this program back toward the top, the one thing that continues to play out is the love affair with Florida.
From south Florida to central, north and southwest Florida, this program has made sure that a majority of this roster has more than its share of prospects who have played their football somewhere in Florida.
Coming off the 2023 class, where a number of key football talent stayed home, or close to home, the Panthers followed that up in this year’s class.

POMPANO BEACH – Two weeks ago when they traveled to Tampa for the Pylon 7-on-7 event, there were few who knew much about the Bal7ers Elite team.
Coached by former NFL standout Julius Jones, Grant Conness, David Gamble, Corey Pierson, Marcus Lawson and Lawrence Pierson, this team has certainly taken the Pylon events by storm, climbing the rankings quickly.
On Saturday, the Pylon 7-on-7 tournament moved to Pompano Community Park.
With several are programs taking part along with teams from Virginia, Jacksonville, Tampa, Palm Beach County and Orlando – and teams of all ages taking part – the spotlight fell on this team, which features players from throughout Broward County.
When the final game was played, and the Bal7ers Elite beat national power Florida Fire, they had taken home another title.
Following the Tampa event, this team was elevated to the No. 3 Pylon high school team rankings nationally, earning a No. 3 position. After Saturday’s win, look for this talented group to leap FSP Blue Chip and MVP Red and grab the top spot nationally.
With several athletes with state championship and playoff pedigree, and a coaching staff that has been at the highest level, keep your eye on this team the rest of the season. They are indeed hungry and talented!

Before Wednesday’s second National Signing Day, St. Thomas University head coach Bill Rychel and his staff wanted to make sure that south Florida prospects would play a huge part in this year’s class.
After another impressive finish this past season, competing in the same conference as national champion West Palm Beach Keiser University, the Bobcats wanted to secure Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties – much like they have the past few years.

Every year, the numbers are staggering, and it appears that once again, south Florida will be in the spotlight.
While many across Miami-Dade and Broward County boast about the number of football transfers in the two counties, fans across the state – and the nation are blown away at the sheer numbers who come and go.
This year, coaching changes have contributed to the total, but it still has many shaking their collective heads at the comings and goings.

While the Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace Spartans finished 7-5 this past season, there was much to like about the way things worked out.
All the losses that this team had came at the hands of state playoff teams, and because of that schedule and being in the same district as powers Miami Central and Miami Norland, it earned them a spot in the post season.
When the season ended, head coach Anthony Walker, his coaching staff and returning players looked at the season and knew that if they could work hard this off-season and into the spring and summer, the results could change.
While the objective is certainly to get back to the state playoffs, there is also a need to develop players and not only set the table for 2024, but the future as well.
This is a team that has athletes who want to play the game and get better – and it reflects at the top with the rising senior (2025) class.
The group has talent, experience and is developing leadership which will ne key with so many underclassmen waiting to follow and add depth.
Among those seniors include Willie Anderson (WR, 5-11, 160 – 2.8 GPA), Brinley Armand (OL, 6-3, 235 – 3.1 GPA), Jayden Armstrong (DB, 5-7, 160), Sincere Benjamin (LB/SS, 6-0, 200 – 2.7 GPA), Marlon Brown Jr. (DB, 5-10, 165 – 2.5 GPA), Joshua Burgos (OL, 6-3, 315), Gabriel Cline (WR/TE, 6-3, 210 – 4.0 GPA), Justin Fowler (DB/WR, 5-7, 140 – 3.1 GPA), and quarterback Mycah Johnson (6-0, 190 – 3.3 GPA).
The class also features Kamari Kendrick (DE/LB, 5-11, 215 – 2.7 GPA), Merrick Martino (DB, 5-11, 180 – 3.8 GPA), Sean Ponder (QB, 6-2, 210 – 3.0 GPA), heavily recruited Wilnerson Telamaque (DE, 6-6, 240 – 2.7 GPA), Jaiden Toussaint (RB, 5-10, 170), and receiver Amare Whetsell (6-0, 170 – 3.2 GPA).
THE UNDERCLASS IS STACKED WITH TALENT
While the rising senior class will certainly be counted on for the experience and leadership, the underclassmen will be very valuable for the Spartans.
Among the rising junior (2026) class that we will hear about will be Daveon Black (WR/DB, 6-0, 180 – 3.6 GPA), versatile Damani Downs (WR/DB, 6-1, 165 – 2.6 GPA), heavily recruited Cleveland Gary III (LB, 5-11, 195 – 4.0 GPA), Marek Marcellus (DB, 5-10, 160 – 3.7 GPA), Dorrian Michel (OL/DL, 5-9, 300 – 3.0 GPA), Zachariah Nozile (LB, 5-9, 195 – 2.7 GPA), Antonio Owens Jr. (DB, 5-7, 140 – 3.5 GPA), Terrance Petit-Frere (RB, 5-9, 150 – 3.4 GPA), Amare Richardson (LB, 5-8, 165 – 2.5 GPA), and running back Rashad Wallace Jr. (5-8, 175 – 3.6 GPA).
