As we know by now, the landscape of college football recruiting has changed dramatically.
It wasn’t long ago that making a choice on where to play football was something that many, who were “tweeners”, took their time. Not anymore!
The transfer portal and NIL have ruined amateur sports at the collegiate level. The word LOYALTY should be removed from the dictionary because attending one college and playing for one program are in the past.
Transferring from one school to another has put high school recruiting in jeopardy. Most schools would opt for a 20-21-year-old who has been to school and adapted to college life and are mature over a 17-18-year-old who has much to learn.
Because the NCAA never wanted to step in and do their job by governing collegiate athletics and keeping a close watch on the portal and NIL, this has become a runaway train.
MIAMI-DADE/BROWARD FOOTBALL PROSPECTS CHOOSING EARLY
With the window being open for a shorter time, student/athletes are making their decision before the start of their final season.
While many elite prospects still have their choice when they will commit, it all falls on those players who are NOT star-rated athletes to make a choice before transfers fill the roster.
Because this region of the state is always watched and recruited heavily, many are making their decision before the start of July.

As time gets closer to the start of the 2024 high school football season, the Class of 2025 is indeed on the clock.
That elusive college scholarship or financial assistance is starting to dwindle and the reality of not being able to live out a dream is starting to become a reality.
While the transfer portal his seriously cut into high school recruiting, the light at the end of the tunnel is still there, but the upcoming season and the post season have become more important than ever before.
With all the talent that we have here in south Florida is something that is coming back to be a negative. Too many student/athletes and not enough money to hand out.
What we continue to do is shine a spotlight on all athletes. While 4 and 5 stars sell subscriptions, the reality is they do not need exposure and are often over hyped.
With that in mind, yesterday we started to shine a spotlight on the 2025 class in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties with a look at some of the offensive players. Today, we get a chance to bring you some defensive prospects to keep an eye on.
What this group represents is talent, experience and leadership – starting up front with the linemen – such as Darius Curington (6-2, 260, Miami Edison), Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons transfer Richard Scott III (6-3, 235, Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas), Anthony Smith (6-2, 300, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna), Craig Comrie Jr. (6-1, 225, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna) recent Central transfer Deangelo Thompson (6-3, 215, Miami Northwestern), and Jacob Joseph (6-2, 215, Davie Western).

When it comes to football prospects, there are very few places in the nation like Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
While other areas of the country have more than their share of talented football players, the sheer numbers that the #305 and #954 produce annually are staggering.
At a time when California, Texas, Ohio, Georgia, Louisiana and other states believe that they have the best talent pouring out of their high schools, and match Florida for what they produce, the reality is that everywhere has gifted game changers, but not at the rate that this region does.
Very few areas of the nation can so many impressive athletes fly under the radar and are often discovered late – and with the portal – it often is a negative rather than positive to have so much talent.
While many prospects are getting promoted repeatedly by fan websites and the media for the Class of 2025, we will bring you some talent that may not be getting that spotlight they deserve.
Over the next two days, we will give you come “under-publicized” talent to keep an eye on in this senior class.
We start out on the offensive side of the ball – where there are Nebraska transfer Sebastian Circo (5-11, 160, Davie Western), Ocala Trinity Catholic and Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons transfer Preston Wright (6-1, 195, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna), Weston Cypress Creek transfer Devin Gonzalez (6-0, 185, Coconut Creek), Camden Hartzell (6-1, 185, Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian), Miami Westminster Christian transfer Jason “Weasel” Barket (6-0, 170, Miami Christopher Columbus), and X’Zayvion Clayton (5-11, 165, Homestead South Dade).

Speaking about attention, what about the group of receivers that certainly need a share of the spotlight. The rosters change daily. Student/athletes are switching schools at an alarming rate. Welcome to Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
The “Wild, Wild West” lives and breathes in the nearly 100 miles between Deerfield Beach and Florida City. Open enrollment has taken on a new meaning along with alternative ways to receive a diploma.
Virtual schools have popped up at a rate that nobody predicted, and none have athletic programs, which gives the student/athlete an opportunity to compete for any school they choose.
Because some schools have way more than half of their athletes not attending that physical building, many sports teams are getting stronger – and not just with the students in their area.
While virtual schools have become an alternative to attending class in person every day and socializing with friends and teammates, transferring has hit a new high.
While nobody is going to hide their collective heads in the sand and act as if this has never gone on before, the numbers of transfers now are at an all-time high and local counties and the Florida High School Athletic Association seem to want no part of this.
While we attempt to keep track of ALL the transfers because of our extensive database that we have where college coaches are checking in daily, we have missed many who slid under the radar.

WEST PALM BEACH – There is no college football program in the state of Florida that can make the claim that the Keiser SeahawkComing off the best season in school history, this team comes in as the defending national NAIA champions, and you can bet that they are using it to their full advantage this spring and summer.
With head coach Doug Socha moving on, Palm Beach County’s own Myles Russ was announced as the new head coach, and the record-setting West Boca Raton graduate and his staff have not stopped since he was appointed.
On Saturday, the Seahawks held yet another summer event when nearly 200 football players from Class 2023-2028 attended as all positions were promoted and exposed.
Among the group of players included 35 prospects from Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
One of the larger groups that traveled the two hours was the two-time defending state runner up Homestead Broncos who looked as impressive as any program in south Florida during the off-season.
Head Coach Ronnie Thornton and his team have been all over the state for camps, combines and 7-on-7 events, so the trip to West Palm Beach was a must for many of his young players.
“Something like this is huge for our programs,” Thornton pointed out. “This gives our younger players some valuable experience, competing against some quality players.”
