Round 2 Gets Under Way Tonight In South Florida

 When it comes to the state football playoffs, south Florida is always in the middle of the conversation.

With the exception of 1A, Miami-Dade and Broward Counties have all the classes covered, and beginning this evening – with two games, the spotlight will shine brightly.

City of Hialeah In Football Spotlight This Evening

With two-time defending 2A state champion Champagnat Catholic still in the race for a sixth consecutive state title appearance, football in the City of Hialeah hasn’t been in the spotlight for a few seasons. But that all changes tonight.

When defending champion Barbara Goleman (8-2) faces off with surprising Westland Hialeah (8-1) at 7:00 in the Greater Miami Athletic Conference (GMAC), the Gators and Wildcats will get the chance to bring home a title. Westland Hialeah’s lone loss came to the Gators earlier this season, 24-12.

WEEK 2 PLAYOFFS: The Stakes Continue To Rise In south Florida

As we head toward the second week of the state playoffs in south Florida, we are going to see some impressive talent all over Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

With several rematches taking place, the action will be heated and competitive as the race for the state championships are in high gear.

Week 1 State Playoffs Sets The Table For The Future

 If you follow high school football in south Florida, you already know that Week 1 of the state playoffs was just a small appetizer for what’s ahead.

While there were no real upsets – other than No. 8 Plantation beating No. 1 Fort Myers Dunbar, which really wasn’t that much of a surprise – what the first week did was set the tempo for the next four weeks.

Starting with yesterday’s two games that kicked off the state playoffs, you can almost guarantee that this region will be watched by everyone.

While we already know that the amazing number of prospects that come out of this region each and every year is mind-boggling, to say the least, the teams that are developed in the #305 and #954 are unmatched.
