5 Miami-Dade Broward Prospects Who Turned Heads At Rivals Camp

FORT LAUDERDALE – On a warm spring day in south Florida, the scene shifted to St. Thomas Aquinas High School for the Rivals.com camp series.

Hundreds of impressive underclassmen were on hand as star-rated athletes were out to show that they were for real mixed in with some hopefuls who were there to turn heads and showcase some skills in front of several recruiting analysts, who were watching athletes from all over the state.

While many prospects did their thing, and were recognized for it, we had the chance to take a close look at some of our own locals, who did quite well.

Because we have the opportunity to watch so many Miami-Dade and Broward County prospects throughout the course of an off-season, it is always refreshing to shine the spotlight on them at an event as prestigious as this one.

Here are five football players who we followed and watched during drills and one-on-one competition that did their thing:

2025 – Jade Card, WR, 6-3, 200, Miami Norland. From the time he entered high school at South Broward to this off-season when he made his move south to play for head coach Daryle Heidelberg and the Vikings, this is a football talent who has the ability to play four different positions and not miss a beat. He is fast, athletic and has the size to dominate. Makes plays no matter where he lines up. He will be a huge asset for the Vikings as a pass catcher. If needed he is a tremendous safety, and some think could put his hand down one day and become an unstoppable rush end.

2024 – Bowen Drewes, LB, 6-1, 210, Plantation American Heritage. While many didn’t watch him as close as they should have, this is someone who caught our eye in every phase of the game. Will head into spring as one of the top prospects, and while he may not be cemented on the lists of college coaches across the country, that will change. Has everything going for him – and with a 4.0 GPA in his pocket – the combination of what he does on the football field and in the classroom will certainly add up to many, many positives for head coach Mike Smith and the defending state 2A runner up Patriots. We spotlighted him during the 2022 season, but he really put the work in during this off-season. He ended last season with 109 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 5 sacks and 2 punt blocks.

2024 – Char’Quez Lee, LB, 6-2, 210, Miami Palmetto. Talk about a dominating football talent, we had the chance to watch him the past two years at Miami Immaculata LaSalle before he made the move over to play for head coach Mike Manasco the Panthers this off-season. He is big, agile, quick and very strong. As a player he has tremendous instincts and is a playmaker. Watching before he was on the radar as a sophomore you could tell that this was going to be someone special – and he is well on the way. Was voted as one of the top players at the camp – even with a nagging turf toe that has been sticking with him. Coaches on hand couldn’t say enough great things about him.

TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/11313216/CharQuez-Lee

2024 – Ryan Mack, S, 5-11, 175, Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas. Among so many gifted players from the two-counties who received praise and recognition, there are few who are consistent as this impressive talent who is skilled and physical, taking many of amazing traits from his father – a one-time University of Miami star linebacker Rod Mack. He fits what head coach Roger Harriott and the Raiders do on defense, becoming a leader over the past year. College coaches love what they see as did the recruiters on Sunday on his home field. Will emerge as one of the best in the state of Florida!

TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/15321832/Ryan-Mack

2024 – Kai-El Pascal, DB, 6-0, 175, Miami Dr. Krop. Another talented prospect we had the chance to watch since he began playing for head coach Tom Caporale and the Lightning. This is a gifted football player who follows in the footsteps of his brother Pascal, who was easily one of the most under rated football players in south Florida. What he brings to the table is a “shutdown corner” who makes plays and reduces even the best receiver to limited action. Quick, physical and a passion to play this game at a high level. Was voted as one of the best defensive backs at the Rivals camp for shutting the top prospects down during the 1-on-1 competition, earning a Gold Ball. He will be one of the premier secondary players this coming season – no matter what anyone else thinks. He is a proven athlete who turns heads and receives praise from anyone he competes against.

Plenty of Talent In Miami-Dade Broward For 2026

Here we go again. Comparisons are starting to be made, but that’s something we have lived with here in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties for many decades.

A year never passes without those who follow high school football in the two counties starting to talk about the best, which by now, we all know is subjective at best.

While those who want to stand on top pf the hill and proclaim how great this class is or any other class that they have watched, the one thing that just about everyone can agree on is the talent in south Florida – especially in Miami-Dade and Broward – can stand up against any state or region in the country.

When all is said and done this slice of football heaven does not need someone in California, Texas, Ohio, Georgia, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, or any other perceived hotbed for talent to judge Florida football talent from thousands of miles away.

The same recruiting services who proclaimed 2008 as the best or 2010 an elite group or even the past few years with 2021 and even 2023 are now starting to buzz around this rising sophomore Class of 2026.

This group is gifted and getting stronger all the time with prospects getting bigger, stronger, faster and dominating competition nationally.

As you know, we have an opportunity to see thousands of athletes live every year, so today, we take a look at some more of those talented football players who are about to showcase some impressive prospects as college and universities will head south at the end of April and into May.

5 Miami-Dade/Broward 2025 Prospects To Watch

When we attend games, practices, combines, camps and 7-on-7 events we watch every player who is competing live and in person.

Throughout the course of a year, our objective is to make sure that every athlete gets the opportunity to get promoted.

Remember, not every prospect is a Power 5 or Group of 5 type of athlete, and while the focus is usually on those star-rated athletes, we make sure that everyone gets into the spotlight.

While we make sure that we include every class and every position in our coverage, today we take a look at five players in the Class of 2025.

Johnny Arneus, WR, Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas. Already armed with two of the best receivers in the state, the Raiders added this quality slot receiver from Pembroke Pines Somerset Academy, who has the chance to be one of the top prospects in the class. His speed, ability to get open, make catches and ignite an offense has him in a position to be one of the players that you will want to keep an eye on this coming season. He will indeed have many opportunities to help this offense move at a high level. His work ethic is also very impressive.

TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/16222376/6153c28b5ca8cf1780d8ad3

Ben Hanks Jr., CB, 6-1, 160, Miami Booker T. Washington. Following in the rather large footsteps of his father who starred at Miami High and the University of Florida, here is a quality football talent that is versatile and on a rise toward the top of his game. After starting out at Doral Academy, he made the move to play for head coach Tim “Ice” Harris and the Tornadoes and has been improving month by month. Has already thrust himself into the spotlight among Class of 2025 prospects statewide.

TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/16372248/Ben-Hanks-Jr

2025 – Matias Garcia, OL/DL, 6-3, 270, Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian Academy. When we watching this quality talent play last season we left impressed by everything he brings to the table. This is someone who never stops. High motor and willing to learn on both sides of the ball. The first thing you notice about him is even against top-flight competition he never backs down. As offensive lineman, he ability to come out of his stance quickly and get to the point of attack is something that over the next two years you will see a lot of improvement. His knowledge of the offense is the reason he is so impressive on defense. Great anticipation and feel for the direction of the play. He has two full years left and that is going to make him technically better.

TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/16715596/Matias-Garcia

Ezekiel Marcelin, LB, 6-0, 190, Miami Central. A starter for a championship team as a freshman, impact prospect as a sophomore. What else can be said for a prospects who is on his way to becoming an elite national recruit. He gets to the play fast – no matter of it’s a run or a pass play. His quickness combined with amazing instincts puts this young man in a class by himself. Very gifted and a sure tackler who is not only a tremendous athlete, but equally as impressive as a student and an emerging role model.

TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/17070413/61b097dc386d9a07dc1faba9

Cortez Mills, WR, 6-1, 170, Homestead. Another impact football player we watched as a freshman and continued to see his growth this past season. Easily one of the elite receivers who is lethal on short passes – making something big out of practically nothing and his ability to stretch the field with long passes, giving the Broncos a deep threat and a quick score performer. Will continue to develop into a national recruit over the next year, keeping colleges and universities heading down to southern Miami-Dade County.
