Cardinal Gibbons Tests Unbeaten Clearwater Central Catholic

While many teams are off the final week of the season – or playing programs who may not be headed to the state playoffs, Clearwater Central Catholic and Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons have opted to do something different.

The Marauders and head coach Chris Harvey, who advanced to the 1M championship game last year, losing to Chaminade-Madonna, and 2M Cardinal Gibbons and head coach Matt Dubuc opted to save one of their toughest games for the regular season finale this evening at 6:00.

Both schools, who have enjoyed plenty of success over the years, will be headed into the state playoffs next week, but this huge test will certainly help both schools get ready for a run that hopefully end each program in Tallahassee in the first week of December.

The Stakes Rise Tonight For University School & Westminster Academy

Back on Oct. 12 in a regular season battle between the unbeatens, Fort Lauderdale NSU University School overwhelmed Fort Lauderdale Westminster Academy, 42-7.

Tonight (6:00) at AutoNation Field, the two teams get together in a contest that means just about everything.

This Sunshine State Athletic Conference state semifinal will watch one team advance to the finals – while the other will wrap it up for the season.

What the 9-0 Sharks have done this season under head coach Mike Norman is dominate the competition, outscoring their opponents, 376-101, using a solid defense and a powerful offensive attack.

For head coach Ehren Wallhoff and his Lions, that lone loss continues to haunt this team as they prepare for this huge matchup.

This team fully understands that the only way they will represent the south next week at Bryant Stadium in Lakeland against either Oviedo Master’s Academy or Jacksonville’s Zarephath Academy is to win this evening. Losing is NOT an option!

Tough Year For Sunset and HML; NMB, American Clash Tonight.

There is no getting around the fact that when Miami Sunset and Hialeah Miami Lakes bring the 2023 season to an end today, the off season could not come fast enough.

The two schools will be sitting home for any post season action.

For HML and Sunset the season has indeed been a disaster with each team combining for an 0-18 record. The Trojans have been outscored, 332-0 – and will be the first team ever to go through a 10-game season without scoring a point - while Sunset has scored just 59 points this season.

PLAYOFF BOUND NMB AND AMERICAN TONIGHT?

The only teams playing today – Hialeah American (6-3) and North Miami Beach (3-6) still have a legitimate shot at a first-round playoff game.

What NMB did this year is do what they have done for several seasons – play a super challenging schedule, which featured games against Niceville, Lake Mary and Bushnell South Sumter along with district foes Miami Norland and Miami Central. American has played well in the second half of the season after losing to Miramar in the district title game.

Week 11: Final Week of The Regular Season

Back when the 2022 season came to an end, there were many football programs that pointed toward the 2023 season as a time when things would turn around.

Here we are one year later, and while some of those programs improved and will advance to the state playoffs next year, there are several who will be sitting home during the post season once again during the playoffs.

When play ends on Friday night, several Miami-Dade and Broward County football teams will make plans for next week – while others will put the uniforms, pads and helmets away until spring.

This is the final regular season week of 2023, and here is how Week 11 shapes up:
