Throughout the past two months we have been fortunate to get out and see thousands of south Florida athletes - live.
Via games, practices, 7-on-7 events, camps and combines, getting the chance to watch these quality football players from five feet away definitely gives you a major advantage.
While you have to understand that Miami-Dade and Broward are two of the most prospect-rich counties in the nation, getting to evaluate every prospect the right way – and not just watching the same film that everyone can see – is never an easy task.
No matter what class it may be, seeing these athletes up close and personal is the only to really get their true value to a team. We have done it that way for 52 years, and still do it the same way.
While the 2023 class is still being dissected by analysts and college coaches nationally, the 2024 juniors are just starting to receive major attention.
Many of the area players are already being sought after by some of the best colleges and universities in the country – and today we bring you handful of some impressive prospects in that class.
Because we are fortunate to promote prospects year-round, if an athlete doesn’t appear today, they will certainly make their way on to these pages – if they haven’t already.
In addition to the daily coverage, we have promoted over 60 local schools in the two counties, mentioning thousands of players in all classes. That is something that others simply cannot do.

THE SCOOP
When the 2021 season was over, the Pat Surtain era came to an end in Plantation.
A program that had won more than its share of games and state championships had fallen off and dropped four games.
Coaches and fans had gotten so used to getting to that state final, dropping four games in one season was simply unheard of.
St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Lucie Treasure Coast, Jacksonville Trinity Christian and Miami Central would come out on top against the Patriots, and while three of them would end up as state champions, there was no consolation prize. Not at this school. Not with a program that had won 90 percent of its games in the past decade.
Enter Mike Smith. A coach who has been through all of this developing and winning – and while Surtain will be missed as he heads off to the Miami Dolphins, Smith is more than ready and capable of guiding this program.

TAMPA - There have been a lot of high school football programs that have turned heads this off-season, but head coach Anthony Walker Sr. and his Miami Monsignor Pace Spartans have surprised everyone.
Loaded with plenty of young prospects, poised for the future, the Spartans have met every challenge put in front of them, and everyone is taking notice.
Walker took over this program to get them back on track as one of the top programs in the state. He has been around this school for a number of years, making sure that students were on track.
He has coached and mentored – and along with his son, Anthony Jr., who plays for the Cleveland Browns, has shown how you can balance athletics and academics.
On Saturday, this team that has traveled to several schools, made a major impression at the second University of South Florida Sling & Shoot event that attracted some impressive teams from around the state.
When the event was over, the Spartans stood tall as champions, beating Coach Ryan Schneider and hos Cocoa Tigers in the finals.
Using very few seniors and plenty of underclassmen, Monsignor Pace has inched back on the map as they head toward 2022.
This is a talented and discipline program that believes that what is happening in May, June and July will translate to the regular season.
In addition to the Spartans and Cocoa, other Final Four Teams included Oviedo (Greg Odierno) and 7A state runner up Tampa Bay Tech (Jayson Roberts).
By beating a solid Cocoa team, the Spartans ran a gauntlet that began with Riverview, Seffner Christian, Clearwater and Orlando Dr. Phillips, finishing 4-0, heading into the playoff round as a No. 2 seed.
The tournament was indeed stacked with talent. Teams such as Valrico Bloomingdale, West Palm Beach Cardinal Newman, Tampa Gaither, Dover Strawberry Crest, Daytona Beach Mainland, Tampa Leto, Sarasota Riverview, Tampa Sickles, New Port Richey J.W. Mitchell, Orlando Lake Nona, Brooksville Hernando, Palm Bay, Tampa Sickles and Rockledge were competing.
Melbourne Bayside was there. So were Lakeland Lake Gibson, Fort Pierce John Carroll, Orlando Evans, Gibsonton East Bay, Wesley Chapel Wiregrass Ranch, Orlando Olympia, Winter Park, Tampa Carrollwood Day, Naples Baron Collier, Vero Beach, Winter Garden West Orange, Seminole Osceola Fundamental, Clearwater, Zehyrhills, Port Orange Spruce Creek and Fort Myers Bishop Verot.
The defending 6A state champion Tampa Jesuit was on hand. So was the always tough Seffner Armwood, who came in as the No. 1 seed.
The day also included an impressive lineman camp, which attracted hundreds – as far away as Georgia and northern Florida.

Over the decades as a football coach in south Florida, Greg Magner made a lasting impression on so many student/athletes.
One of the coaches who has been around for many, many years, his ability to teach and organize has been something that is overlooked by those who follow the game.
What Magner and his team accomplished last year, during a 5-5 season, was to lay down a foundation – where the senior class would make an impact in 2022.
Taking nothing away from the underclassmen, the core of this football program centers around the Class of 2023.
Ending the year with consecutive wins against Miami Sunset (10-6), Miami Springs (34-27) and Miami Varela (8-6) – coupled with early season victories against Miami Coral Park (22-14) and North Miami Mourning (49-0) – gave this team a great feeling heading into the off-season.
